Before obtaining a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Illinois, Sondra Barrett, experimented in kitchen chemistry, tasting and creating recipes with her children.  She later began exploring food and nutrition as a consultant to health companies and hospitals offering counseling services and expertise managing lifestyle changes and food sensitivities.  She now serves as consulting director of education to Born of Woman Films.  For the short film Edible, she is developing a study guide to bring the content of the film into practical use in the classroom and home.

An educational pioneer in bodymind medicine, Dr. Barrett explores the health benefits of nourishing relationships emphasizing the latest research on the role of community, wine, and spirituality on well-being. With Pacific Media, Barrett co-produced an educational video for health professionals Supercharge Your Energy.  In 2002 she produced her first experiential CD Molecular Messengers of the Heart.  She has been creative director for Camp Sunburst for youth with AIDS and is currently working on a book/DVD The Cellular Shaman.

She just completed her first book The Soul of Wine tracking wine’s tantalizing microscopic patterns and sensory expressions discovering that the grape has a spiritual purpose to ensure human happiness, survival and expresses an inner beauty, a metaphor for its personality.
