The education project will use Edible to inspire viewers to examine their eating choices and to make a commitment to sharing healthy meals. Born of Woman Films will offer this project to schools, community groups, health care professionals, elder care organizations, and any group concerned with these important issues.
An accompanying discussion guide will help teachers, parents, elders, and health care professionals initiate conversations in the classroom and at home. The discussion guide will explore how to:
- Recognize nourishing food choices
- Identify family eating patterns that increase health and well-being
- Contribute to better health for our youth, adults, and elders
- Examine the relationships between food and the environment
In addition to questions, the guide will offer activities and further resources designed to continue this dialogue.
Research shows that children and teens who share meals with their families are less likely to join gangs, smoke, get addicted to drugs, or overeat. They also do better in school than kids who eat most of their meals alone. Adults who share healthy meals enjoy better physical and psychological health. Elders who eat well live longer and more satisfying lives.
The Taste of Love, a full-length docudrama, will continue the discussion about food introduced by Edible.
